Born in El Salvador and raised in Brisbane, Josue (Josh) Lopez has worked in some of Brisbane and Europe’s most acclaimed restaurants.
As Executive Chef at the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), he combines cuisine and art with a philosophy that encompasses all that is fresh, contemporary and local. He was previously head chef at iconic Brisbane restaurants Moda, Two Small Roons and Spring, and in 2011, he spent three months working under René Redzepi at Copenhagen’s noma – repeatedly named the best restaurant in the world.
In November 2014, Josh presented his contemporary Australian cuisine for the leaders’ working dinner at QAGOMA for the Brisbane G20 summit, showcasing his passion for local, seasonal and indigenous ingredients.
Josh was named CITI Chef of the Year for 2016 in the Brisbane Times Good Food Guide, which also awarded GOMA Restaurant a prestigious two hats.
