James has diverse experience working at restaurants in Australia and overseas. Whilst working alongside Daniel Puskas at Oscillate Wildly, James won the 2009 Josephine Pignolet award for Best Young Chef.
This award provided an opportunity for James to travel internationally and spend time in the kitchens at Mugaritz, Noma, and Blue Hill at Stone Barns.
In 2012 James and Daniel opened Sixpenny, their little restaurant in Stanmore.
In 2015 Sixpenny was awarded two hats in the SMH Good Food Guide, it also received two stars from Gourmet Traveller’s 2015 national restaurant guide.
Inspired by the produce garden at Mugaritz and farm at Stone Barns, James helped build Sixpenny's very own garden, otherwise known as The Patch, in the N.S.W Southern Highlands.
