Herb Faust Food was launched in 2010 after Herb Faust became the only contestant to beat an Iron Chef on Channel 7’s ‘Iron Chef Australia’. Herb believes his appreciation of good food stems from his childhood visits to the Buddhist temple, where he, his mother and three siblings would offer food to the monks and then share the remainder amongst those present. Herb recalls an amazing array of authentic Thai food on offer and fondly remembers the incredible aromas and tastes. He also reflects that this was the time he began noticing how the sharing of a meal really brought people together.
Herb’s approach to cooking is most certainly influenced by the Thai cuisine he experienced as a child. He remains fascinated by the fresh, seasonal ingredients which provide such a delicate balance of flavours, but that also require strong technique to execute. He expresses this philosophy in his own cooking by using fresh, in-season produce to create dishes that are not only tasty, but also interesting and distinctive.
When Herb is not in the kitchen, he loves spending time with his wife and their two children, Jackson and Jasmin. He also sneaks out for a quick skate or surf if there’s ever a spare moment!
